KAMS Library Reading Challenge

All KAMS Students are encouraged to participated in the year long KAMS Library Reading Challenge.  We encourage all students to read a variety of genres throughout the school year. Students who READ often and widely are better readers, writers, and spellers. For more information, please stop by the KAMS Library and speak to any KAMS Library Staff member.

We are getting ready for the END of the School Year @PGHS/KAMS Library. Please make sure you listen for information about End of Year Textbook Collection coming up during the last two weeks of school. All PGHS & KAMS students MUST clear their library account before leaving on Summer Break!

A lot is going on @PGHS/KAMS Library during the month of April. Our "Out of this World" Book Fair will be OPENING on Thursday, April 4th until Friday, April 12th. Stop by and shop our book all week long.


April is also Humor Month @PGHS/KAMS Library. Stop by and check out a funny fiction book or a joke book to make you smile or laugh! Our Library Advisory Club have also put together an April contest during the month of April where you have to guess the KAMS Teacher behind the book? Enter to win a sweet treat at the library.

This month we are also celebrating Lunar New Year and Black History Month. Game ON Holiday Book Fair - December 2023

We hosted the Game ON Holiday Book Fair during December 2023.  Students had the opportunity to browse for a variety of books, look for holiday stocking stuffers, & MORE!  We had lots of student poster and book winners at our Book Fair.

Thank you to all our KAMS students who helped support our Library Fundraiser.

November is Hunger Games Month @ the Library!

November is Hunger Games Month @PGHS/KAMS Library. We are gearing up for the movie adaptation of The Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins coming to theaters on November 17, 2023. The story takes place 64 years before the events in the original Hunger Games. We encourage everyone to READ the book before seeing the movie (Because, the BOOK is always better.) 


Students are encouraged to come check out a Hunger Games book or
any other interesting book @PGHS/KAMS Library during the month of November. 

October is Egar Allan Poe Month @ the Library!

Have you READ The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Black Cat, The Fall of the House of Usher, Annabel Lee, The Cask of Armontillado, or many of the other books written by Edgar Allan Poe?Netflix is releasing a mini-series adaptation of the 19th century short story by Edgar Allan Poe titled, The Fall House of the Usher

Students are encouraged to come check out a Edgar Allan Poe book or any SCARY book
@ PGHS/KAMS Library during the month of October. 

October 1st to October 7th, we are "Celebrating Your FREADom to READ @ our Library!

This is an annual awareness campaign to promote discussion among educators, libraries and all readers to celebrate their FREADOM to read without censorship. We encourage ALL students to READ freely and widely to make form your own opinions and viewpoints about the books in our library. Come explore all the different books available @PGHS/KAMS Library :-)

The KAMS Library is now open for student access before school, during snack and lunch breaks, and after-school until 3:30 p.m. for quiet study, reading, or working on the computer for school related assignments.

Summer Reading Challenge 2023...

Join the KAMS Summer Reading Challenge. Summer is the perfect time to READ all the books you never had time to READ during the school year. Students who complete their forms will have a chance to get a gift card reward to In 'n Out, Jamba Juice, McDonalds, Round Table Pizza, Starbucks +MORE!  KAMS students have until Thursday, August 31st to turn in their forms to a KAMS Library Staff.  Don't miss out!   

* Students who READ out perform those who do not.
* Reading helps students become better writers and spellers.
* Reading books over the summer can prevent summer learning loss.

Step #1) Students can come to the library between March 1st and March 9th to bring their gently used books 

Step #2) Come back to the library on Thursday, March 9th during both lunches to browse from our collection of swapped books

Step #3) Take home your newly selected book to READ over Spring Break! 😊

& Veteran's Month

November is Historical Fiction Month @PGHS/KAMS Library! Where in TIME do you want to go? Stop by the library to check OUT a Historical Fiction book that will take you back in time through the pages of the book!

We are also honoring Veteran's this month to celebrate Veteran's Day! Stop by and check out a book about the history veterans have played in serving our country in the armed forces, today and throughout history.

October is Tolkien & LGBTQ+ History Month

October is Tolkien Month @PGHS/KAMS Library! Stop by the library to check OUT all the books written by J.R.R. Tolkien book, take a picture with Gandalf or Bilbo Baggins, play Lord of the Rings chess, or relax coloring a character from Lord of the Rings.

September 18th - 24th, 2022

 Banned Books Week 2022, which runs from September 18-24. Held annually during the last full week of September, Banned Books Week is an awareness campaign that calls attention to challenged and banned books. Celebrate your FReadom to READ by checking out a book @ PGHS/KAMS Library!
